UTC Blooms With New Mural for Spring

Spring is here, and we’re welcoming the new season with a vibrant new mural at our rotating art space. Through bold colors and inspiring imagery, local artist Annie Dong captures the essence of renewal and growth that defines this time of year.

Visit our art wall in the West District at UTC, located between Blaze Pizza and JPAN, to experience this stunning mural. On display now through June, this lively piece is sure to brighten your day. Don’t forget to snap a photo and tag us @utcsarasota!

MEET THE ARTIST:

Born in St. Petersburg, Annie Dong was raised in China by her grandmother. Growing up, art was her outlet and a tool for communication while learning English.

Annie is a first-generation high school graduate and college student from parents who immigrated to the United States from China, Fuzhou. She received her bachelor’s degree in art and psychology from New College of Florida in 2024, and is currently pursuing her Master of Arts at Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Annie’s artwork reflects her Chinese-American identity, using traditional Chinese iconographics and colors that reflect positive affirmations and personal anecdotes. She believes in moving forward despite challenges and hopes that her paintings and murals will help people connect to diverse perspectives.
