Kaitlin Kelly, also known as Swirly Painter, is a traveling muralist based here in Sarasota. She is a self-taught artist and began painting murals professionally in 2019. She has since left her mark with over 200 beautiful murals all over the Midwest and Florida.
Her artist name “Swirly” is derived from the Fibonacci sequence, the mathematical equation that creates a spiral or “swirl” that can be found in all parts of the universe, including hurricanes, pine cones and even the human body. It is the idea that we are all one, in some way or another.
Kaitlin is a recovering addict and sole provider for her two teenage boys, overcoming adversity and reaching almost six years of sobriety. Her focus is human connection and elevation through curiosity, and the concept of duality. In her eyes, curiosity is the highest form of being. “What if in times of sadness and suffering, we looked within with curiosity? What could that change in how we look at those around us?” she says.
